1. Wear resistance
When the blank is plastically deformed in the mold cavity, it moves and slides along the outside of the cavity, causing intense friction between the outside of the cavity and the blank, which causes the mold to take effect due to wear. Therefore, the wear resistance of materials is one of the most fundamental and important functions of the mold. Hardness is an important factor affecting wear resistance. As usual, the higher the hardness of the mould, the smaller the wear and the better the wear resistance. In addition, the wear resistance has nothing to do with the type, number, state, size and distribution of the carbides in the material.
Most of the working conditions of the mold are very stubborn, and some of them are often subjected to a greater impact load, which leads to brittle fracture. In order to prevent the mould from breaking suddenly during work, the precision hardware mould must have high strength and toughness. The toughness of the mold mainly depends on the carbon content, grain size and structure of the material-precision mold manufacturing.
3. Fatigue fracture function
In the process of mold work, due to the long-term influence of wheel response, fatigue and breakage are often caused. Its form has small energy to repeatedly strike fatigue fracture, stretch fatigue fracture, fight fatigue fracture and twists fatigue fracture. The fatigue fracture performance of the mold depends on its strength, toughness, hardness, and the content of inclusions in the material.
4. Low temperature function
When the working temperature of the mold is higher, it will reduce the hardness and strength, causing the mold to wear out or plastic deformation in the late stage. Therefore, precision injection molds should have high tempering resistance stability to ensure that the mold has high hardness and strength at working temperature.
